There were speculations doing rounds about the IPL that is the Indian Premier League getting canceled for the year owed to the current world situation. As far as India is concerned the rising number of corona patients in the country has got it standing among the top 3 in the third position after the USA and Brazil.  Therefore in such a situation it is not at all advisable to hold such a big event in the country as an event like this would surely demand movement of people in big crowds from one place to another and that may further lead to more spread of the pandemic.
But every year there are huge investments made by the business tycoons and other celebrities of the country in the event of IPL. Therefore, it is not easy to cancel it altogether as that may result in huge financial losses to the investor and such a huge financial loss would further lead to greater loss to the nation’s economy.
Since there have been already enough losses into the economy because of the never-ending lockdown periods that were declared by the government for stopping the spread of Coronavirus in the country so putting the economy into another huge loss perhaps would result in worst economical conditions.
So keeping all of it in mind BCCI that is the Board of control for cricket in India is finally planning to organize the event of IPL in UAE that is the United Arab Emirates. The governing council chairman of BCCI Brijesh Patel on Tuesday informed that the 2020 IPL tournament will be conducted in UAE and the BCCI has requested the Indian government to approve the same.
Though ECB that is Emirates Cricket Club is still to be informed officially as BCCI awaits government nod, once BCCI will get that awaited nod from the government perhaps then it will make further arrangements for providing official information to the ECB.
A meeting of the IPL governing council is expected to be held on July 24 2020 after which an official confirmation will be provided for the conduct of IPL in UAE.
As per the plan made by the BCCI, the evening matches will be given an early start they are most probably to be started at 7; 30 PM as per the Indian standard time, perhaps IPL this year will start one week in advance it was earlier decided to be started September 26 but now it may start on September 19.
Also, there is a possibility of a three-match white ball series between India and South Africa in the UAE.
The idea of an early start of the IPL matches was once again given out by the broadcaster, the broadcaster has been pressurizing on this idea for last two years now, but for the last two years, this request made by the broadcaster could not be taken into consideration because of some technical reasons.
But this time there is a chance that the IPL governing council may heed to this request of the broadcaster as this time the matches will be held in UAE and as per the local time, the matches are expected to be started at 6:00 pm. Also, the approval of the early timings seems more possible because even the franchises will not be in opposition to the idea.
Now if we look at the start of IPL being before 26th then there is a chance that the provisions will be given in the hands of Star to decide as BCCI is totally helpless and cannot change the date of IPL final that is to be held on November 8, 2020. The reason for BCCI not being able to change the finale date is the commitment that has been made with Australia.
As per the sources “, they want to avoid the 4 pm matches right? So, this option is available to them, to advance the start by a week. They should take it.” If we more get into the stands given by people on this whole scenario then there are also sources who are giving more importance to Australia matches hence they say “The question is, will BCCI allow? Indian team hasn’t played any cricket since March and is required to play a two-month-long IPL followed by two months in Australia, which is a demanding tour. Why would you risk fitness when they have not even stepped on the ground for so long, especially when BCCI president says he expects Virat Kohli to win in Australia.”If you want them to do well then, given them time to recover from this four-month isolation.”
Also, some sources are of the opinion that “If BCCI gives a go-ahead to the series, it’s a win-win for Star. The only question is will the board rush its players into a series so early after such a long break? Ideally, the team would have required a one month camp to get back to full fitness, which was the earlier plan.”
However, amongst all these speculations all that is to be now seen is the official announcement that would be made on July 24th after the meeting of the IPL governing council. As that announcement would surely put a final full stop to all the speculations about the conduct of IPL and will clear off all the confusion that has been going around for a long time now.
