On Monday evening 24 August, a residential building has collapsed in Raigad district Maharashtra. One person got killed whereas 25 are still trapped under the debris. As per the official source, approx 60 people have been rescued till 25 August Tuesday morning. Home Minister Amit Shah, said in his about the4 “tragic” incident on Monday that he has spoken to the Director-General of the disaster response force to give all possible help. According to an investigation into the incident will start after the rescue operations come to end.
As per the local resident, The ‘Tariq Garden’ building has collapsed at around 6 pm. Police officials from Shrivardhan, Mahad, and Mangaon divisions of Raigad have hurried to the spot and are handing the rescue operations along with NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) teams.
This multi-story building was 10years old and housed over 40 apartments. A few people rushed outside the building to a secure spot after the first three floors got collapsed, as per the statement of Nishi Chaudhari (the Raigad district collector)
District collector, Chaudhari has said on a phone call, “At the starting of the top three floors of the building collapsed when some people came out. We have been rescued by 15 persons successfully. The injured have been sent to the government hospital immediately.
Raigad district guardian minister Aditi Tatkare has said that the local administration is trying to get the complete details about the person available inside when the building has collapsed. As per her information, there were 47 flats in the building that housed around 150 people. “The number of people inside the building when it gets collapsed is still unknown”, as per Tatkare.
As per “Manikrao Jajtap” (former MLA of Mahad), we already have started the evacuation work with the earth moving machines. In the starting first two hours, we were able to bring out 25 persons successfully. Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray spoke to the Shiv Sena legislator Bharat Gogawale and Raigad district collector Nidhi Choudhari regarding the building collapse mishap.

Extending support, the chief minister has directed the collector to increase the speed of relief and rehabilitation work.
The State Government has still not ordered any investigation into the incident, yet senior Nationalist Congress Party leader along with Raigad Lok Sabha MP, Sunil Tatkare has said that the probe could be started in the future.
“Heavy Monsoon isn’t new to Raigad and Mahad district and therefore the building constructed thee and the design along with its construction will have to be probed in the near future. The action would be taken against whoever is found responsible. But the priority now is relief and psychoanalysis. Tatkare told to news channels, “we have to take to the injured to non-COVID hospitals”.
Former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and the Union home minister Amit shah expressed show over the incident. Fadnavis tweeted, “Shocked to hear about the building collapse incident at Mahad (Raigad) where many are feared trapped”.
Shah Tweeted: “Praying for everyone’s safety. The collapse of a building in Raigad, Maharashtra is very tragic. Have spoken to DG @NDRFHQ to provide all possible help, the teams are on the way and will be supported with the rescue operations as soon as possible.
Various parts of Maharashtra are witnessing flood-like conditions because of heavy rainstorms in the state. So many regions have reported incidents of house collapse and because of the monsoon season in Indian, old structures are at a high risk of collapsing, with many lives at stake.
Earlier on the morning of 25 August, a 50-year-old house collapsed in the Nagpur city of Maharashtra, killing one and injuring four others. The ground-plus-one-story house, situated in Sadar’s Azad Chow has collapsed across 4.40 am on Monday as per the officials.
Five people were rescued from the debris and rushed to the hospital, where a 43- year- old man was announced brought dead.
Two states Minister – Aditya Thackeray and Eknath Shinde – visited the accident site yesterday on Monday 24 August. A case has been registered against the contractor of the building, Yunus Shaikh, and the architect.
Mr. Shinde said, “The contractor is responsible for the disaster and a case has been registered against him. Also, if any government officials are involved in this, strict action will be taken for them.
