The Indo- Nepal conflict is at its full swing from November last year since the Indian government released the latest Indian political map, Nepal objected on that by claiming that the territory shown in the map actually belongs to the Nepal citizens. The Nepal government claimed of conducting a census there back in the year 1950 and also they claimed that the Sugauli treaty of 1815 legalizes their claim on the particular territory shown in the updated Indian political map.
On the other hand, India claims to have a 60-year-old possession of that same territory and also claims on developing infrastructure there in that region earlier. The region and the new road shown in the map are important for India as it is the instant link between Delhi the national capital of India and the Tibetan plateau. Also, the region is of religious importance for the people of India as they cross the border from there with China to reach the religiously important mount Kailash.
So in the expansion of the same Indo- Nepal conflict the Nepal government has imposed a ban on all the Indian news channels that were on the air in Nepal till now, from now onwards only Doordarshan will be telecasted on the televisions in Nepal the ban would come into effect from today evening.
The News in Nepal has been broken out by the Nepali newspaper “The Himalayan times”, In India, the same news has been broken out by the “Free press journal,” the same news has also been confirmed by the foreign affairs editor of India Today through a tweet. The Nepali cable TV providers also confirmed the same news the ANI news agency quoted them saying that the country has switched off the signals for Indian news channels.
As per the report given by the Nepali publication “The Himalayan times” this particular step has been taken after some Indian news channels broadcasted negative remarks against the prime minister of Nepal KP Sharma Oli.
The Chinese ambassador Hou Yanqi has been reported by the Indian media as very much involved in the internal politics of Nepal. The new controversy about this affair says that she held meetings with the Nepali political leaders, and she is doing so in the times when the ruling party of Nepal that is the “Nepal communist party” has been with the internal conflicts.
PTI also reported that the Chinese ambassador also held a meeting with the senior NCP leader and the former prime minister of Nepal Madhav Kumar for the discussions over the current political scenarios.
These meetings are being held at the times where there is already a lot of tension in Nepal on the political front the protest led by Prachanda and Madhav Kumar is continuously pressurizing the current prime minister of Nepal that is Oli both from the party as well as from the seat of the prime minister.
In the view of the other political party leaders of Nepal, these meetings held by the Chinese ambassador are nothing but a direct interference in the internal political matters and affairs of the country. In this light, we can count the tweet made by the former Nepali foreign minister and the chairman of the Prajatantra Party Kamla Thapa which asks “Will the democratic republic operated through a remote control benefit Nepalese people?”
Kamla Thapa also presented a critical viewpoint for the Indian media’s coverage of Oli his point was that derogatory remarks against the prime minister of the nation will be of no use in the improvement of the relation between the two countries, to quote him word by word in his tweet he wrote   “We have serious differences with PM @kpsharmaoli on many issues, including his conduct of international relations. But deliberate/sustained campaign of mudslinging against PM Oli by some Indian media cannot be acceptable. That doesn’t do Nepal-India relations any good”.
This is not the first time in the history of both the countries where such kind of ban has been put by Nepal’s capital Kathmandu on the Indian media earlier also the Indian news and entertainment channels have been blocked by the Nepal government back in the year 2015 when the relations got strained between the two countries.
Now all that is to be seen is where the battle takes both the countries and at what point the peace would arrive, to uplift the ban from the Indian media that has been put on it by Kathmandu and what more steps the countries would take towards each other to walk into the path of some understanding establishment once again so that the peaceful conditions would prevail further improving the relationships between them in the coming future.
