A flight was arranged in association with Air India for helping those who were stuck in Dubai for so long due to the ongoing pandemic of Corona Virus. The passengers first of all went through a registration process and then they were sent through this flight back to their places. This was a flight that was given permission in the special cases to fly so that it can commute all the people who are stuck in Dubai back to India as in the present situation there are no international flights running.
The flight had around 190 passengers and it crashed while landing at an airport in south Kerala the incident got 17 killed as per the information given by the officials. The count of passengers also includes 10 infants and 6 crew members.
The incident that actually took place was that the plane skid off the runway and as a result broke into two pieces the incident happened while the captain of the plane was trying to land it at the Calicut airport runway. This was the second attempt made by the captain of the plane the first attempt at landing failed due to the heavy monsoon rains. Then as in the second attempt, the captain landed the plane may be the plane just lost the balance due to wetness of the runway and it slipped off and broke into two pieces.
The captain of the plane Deepak Sathe who was a retired Air force wing commander also lost his life in this inauspicious incident.  The Kerala plane crash took place at 19; 40pm as per the Indian standard time. The rescue operation was then started immediately that is over by now.
The Civil Aviation minister Of India “Hardeep Singh puri” said in his tweet that a formal enquiry would be conducted by India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau.  Going more into the details DD News broadcaster was told that the rescue team was able to bring the passengers safely as there was no fire on the plane.
As details regarding the incident the director-general of, India’s National disaster response force Mr S.N. Pradhan said “Calicut airport had a tabletop runway and the aircraft fell into a ditch after it slipped across. Because of that, the fuselage broke into two pieces and as a result, the front half of the plane got damaged badly.
At the time when this incident happened, there were heavy rains falling in Kerala as this the time of monsoon in India and generally, areas like Kerala receive the heaviest amount of rainfall and it is natural that heavy rainfalls often lead the captains of the flights into problems with the landing and with the process of taking off the plane.
As a reaction to this, the Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi said in his tweet “   Pained by the plane accident in Kozhikode. My thoughts are with those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover at the earliest. Spoke to Kerala CM @vijayanpinarayi Ji regarding the situation. Authorities are at the spot, providing all assistance to the affected.”
This was not the only reaction the incident grabbed the attention of VIP’s from every sector, all the major names in various industries took to twitter for sending their condolences to the families of the passengers and also the passengers who were there in the ill-fated flight.
The tweet written, by Shah- Rukh Khan said “My heart goes out to the passengers and crew members onboard the #AirIndia flight. Deepest condolences to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones. Thoughts and prayers…
The Indian Cricket team captain Virat Kohli also said in his tweet “Praying for those who have been affected by the aircraft accident in Kozhikode. Deepest condolences to the loved ones of those who have lost their lives.
This is not the first time such an incident has took place here in India, earlier also monsoons have been deadly for the flights in the months of June- September. A similar plane crashing incident took place in July 2019 in Mangalore but thankfully it was not as disastrous as this one.
There was another similar incident reported in Mangalore in May 2010, an Air India flight met with an accident on the Mangalore Airport runway and crashed. 158 people lost their lives to this incident.
As per the update given by the Kerala Chief Minister over the recent plane crash incident that took place on 07 August the rescue operation that was conducted for that is over now and all the passengers who got injured in the incident have been sent to hospitals in Calicut and  Malappuram.
Out of all those who were injured in this incident 15 out of them are in serious condition and are battling for their lives in the hospital. Other than that there are 17 others who were on the flight and they lost their lives these 17 also include two of the pilots who were on the plane at that time. So, this year is nowhere to stop and is continuously throwing a series of bad incidents one after the other this series of bad incidents started with the news of pandemic and since then it has not stopped anywhere so far almost every month some, or the other sad incident makes it to the headlines now all that is to be seen is when and how this series comes to an end.
